Can I Apply If My Passport Is Damaged?

The passport, which is an international travel document, must have at least one pair of facing blank pages according to the country’s visa rules and must not be damaged in any way. If there is no visible damage in cases such as ink spillage, cologne spillage, or water spillage and drying, it is generally accepted.

If the passport pages are torn, damaged, or missing, a visa application cannot be made. If your passport is damaged or lost, you can obtain a new passport without discarding the old one, and for your visa application, you can use your old damaged passport as a reference if it contains entries, exits, and visas. Can I Apply for a Visa Without Submitting My Passport?

Passport and visa procedures may vary according to the destination country. For countries that apply e-Visas, you do not need to submit the original passport. There are countries that provide visa services without a passport for an additional fee.

You can apply with a photocopy of your passport, and the process is completed by paying an additional fee. If the visa result is positive, the passport is requested and the visa is affixed; if the result is negative, the refusal document is sent without requesting the passport.

Do I Have to Give Fingerprints for a Visa Application?

Not every country collects fingerprints during the visa procedure. Generally speaking, countries that collect fingerprints include Schengen member states, the United States, and Canada.

It is requested according to the country’s visa rules during the visa process. If the applicant does not come in person to apply or does not want to receive the visa result personally, it is a letter written to a third person or institution.

There are two types of powers of attorney depending on the country.

1. Notarized Power of Attorney
